Dear Senator Families,
Late this afternoon, the district received an alert from the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) predicting an air quality index of Code Red Action Day for Friday, June 9, 2023. As a result, we will need to shift to our Rain Day Contingency Plan for the Dover High School Graduation Ceremony. According to DNREC, during a code red alert, “some members of the general public may experience health effects; members of sensitive groups may experience more serious health effects.”
To ensure the safety and well-being of everyone, the graduation event tomorrow will be shifted to indoors and each student will be limited to four orange rain tickets for 4 guests. Families will need to check in with school officials as they enter the back of Dover High School with the orange tickets. To assist in the transition, we will open earlier at 2:30 pm and the graduation will begin promptly at 4:00 pm. Any guest arriving after 4:30 pm with an orange ticket will be directed to the Dover High School Theater to watch the live stream.
To minimize disruptions, we are asking that families contact their guests tonight and share the recent status change. We want to stress that only orange rain tickets will be accepted for admission into the Dover High School Graduation Ceremony. For guests unable to attend in person, the ceremony can be viewed online at https://youtu.be/KqMhWV-OAIc.
In closing, I want to thank our operations and custodial staff at Dover High School for their flexibility and efforts. We also appreciate your patience and understanding as we make this adjustment.
