Welcome.  The Student Services Department works to facilitate the collaboration between schools, students, families, and community partners to help ensure the educational, social and behavioral success of our students.  

Meet our District Staff

LaWanda Burgoyne - Supervisor of Student Services
Mrs. Burgoyne has been a Senator for over 10 years, serving as an English teacher, a literacy coach, and a school improvement specialist. She is a graduate of Mississippi State University with a BS in English Education and Walden University with an MS in Adolescent Literacy & Technology. Mrs. Burgoyne is dedicated to supporting the positive social, emotional, behavioral, and academic learning of all students.

Shameka Johnson  - Truancy & Homeless Education Liaison

Mrs. Johnson holds certifications in education, social work and counseling.  She provides services to students and their families that are experiencing homelessness or have barriers which interfere  with regular school attendance.  

(Grades K-6)
Rod Fesel - Truancy & Homeless Education Liaison

Mr. Fesel has a background as an  educator and school counselor who works to ensure that students experiencing homelessness remain educationally stable and that barriers to regular school attendance are removed.

Christina Venticinque - Homeless Education Liaison (Pre-K-12)
Ms. Venticinque joins Student Services with over 8 years' experience as an instructional paraprofessional at Capital School District.  She holds a Bachelor's Degree from Medaille College in her original hometown of Buffalo, New York, where she studied Health and Human Services.  She provides direct support and services to students and their families that are experiencing homelessness.
