Special Services

Welcome to the Capital School District Special Services Department. In keeping with the District’s mission of: “Advancing Educational Excellence through Innovation” the Special Services Department strives to meet the needs of students with identified disabilities to prepare them for post secondary education, vocational opportunities, and independent living.

The Department of Special Services at Capital School District works collaboratively with school staff, students, families and community members to ensure that students with disabilities have the supports they need to be successful in school. The Department of Special Services strives to be a resource for all team members to ensure student success.  The Department of Special Services provides professional development and technical assistance related to 504 plans and IEPs. Our staff assist schools with development of flexible programming, supports and services to support students with disabilities and to ensure that all students have access to meaningful curriculum, opportunities, and are actively engaged in learning.
