Dover High School (DHS) has a long history of providing excellence in high school education for students in the Capital School District. The original Dover High School was built on Pat Lynn Drive in 1965, in 2010 the community voted to provide funding for a state-of-the-art facility that opened to serve nearly 1500 students on Dover High Drive in the fall of 2014. At Dover High School we believe it is essential to inspire and guide students with the support of parents and the community to become productive and contributing citizens.

At Dover High School we believe that education is a major factor in preparing all students for productive lives. Emphasis is placed on the development of attitudes and skills necessary for adapting to a changing society. To accomplish this most effectively, the school works with the family, the community, and other institutions. The faculty and staff of Dover High School respect the worth and dignity of each individual and realize that students differ in their social backgrounds, preferences, and interests. We recognize that variations exist among student educational experiences, levels of ability, degrees of preparation and learning styles. The high school believes that when students respect and accept diversity in a multicultural setting, it enhances their potential for success in all areas of their lives. Furthermore, Dover High School promotes achievement in using technology appropriate to specific areas of learning. We believe that learning is a process; therefore, we support the idea that the students and the community benefit most when there is encouragement toward a lifelong pursuit of knowledge and personal fulfillment.

DHS transitions students from the Capital School District’s Central Middle School. Curriculum and student services are carefully aligned across our schools to ensure our students are supported on a clear path for success. At DHS we value family partnerships as an essential part of our high school community with varied opportunities to stay engaged with your child as they prepare for a bright and rewarding future. Academic, social and emotional learning at DHS is delivered through a comprehensive program of studies with challenging core classes, a robust Career and Technology Program, a full menu of Advanced Placement Courses, Dual enrollment options with local colleges, a widely recognized Academy of the Arts, and 20 athletic teams which play 17 different sports across three seasons. A school of our size offers many advantages that include a wide variety of clubs and activities that are available to the student body: there is something for everybody to connect with at DHS.
