Welcome to the 2024-25 Academic Year

Welcome to the 2024-25 Academic Year

Dear Students and Parents,

We hope you had a restful and enjoyable summer break.  As we start the new school year, I am excited to welcome you back to what promises to be a year of growth, learning, and positive experiences.

This summer, our team reflected on the 2023-2024 school year, and we recognized the need to ensure the environment in each of our schools is safe and appropriate for learning.  Our district is committed to ensuring that every student feels safe, respected, and supported in our schools.  This year, we are focusing on two key goals: improving school culture and increasing student learning.  We believe that a positive and supportive school environment is the foundation for academic success, and we are committed to ensuring that every student feels safe, respected, and empowered to achieve their best.

Points of Emphasis for the School Year:

  1. Respect for People and Property:  We expect all students to demonstrate respect for their peers, staff, visitors, and school property.  This includes treating everyone with kindness and consideration and taking care of our school facilities.
  2. Acknowledging Positive Behaviors:  We will recognize and celebrate positive behaviors throughout the year.  By highlighting the good choices our students make, we aim to foster a district-wide culture of respect, responsibility, and community.
  3. Developing Positive Relationships:  Building strong, positive relationships between students, teachers, families, and staff is essential to our district’s success.  We encourage everyone to take the time to get to know one another and to contribute to a welcoming and inclusive environment.
  4. Seeking Assistance to Mediate Conflicts:  We understand that conflicts can arise, but we want to ensure that students have the tools and support they need to resolve them peacefully.  We encourage students to seek assistance from teachers, counselors, or administrators when conflicts arise, so they can be addressed constructively.
  5. Updated Cell Phone Policy:  To minimize distractions and maximize learning, we have updated our cell phone policy and will launch our “Cell Phones Off, Learning On” campaign.  We believe this will help create a more focused and productive classroom environment.  Additional detailed information will be disseminated soon.

Moving into the new year, I want to express my appreciation for your ongoing support and partnership and encourage you to actively participate in our efforts to create a positive school climate.  Together, we can create environments within our schools where every student is encouraged to thrive academically and personally.  Your support and involvement are crucial to our success. I am confident that with our shared commitment to these goals and points of emphasis, this year will be one of increased learning and student achievement.

Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or need assistance.  We look forward to working with you to make this a fantastic year!

Warm regards,

Victoir T. Cahoon
