Superintendent Update Nov 5, 2021
Superintendent Update Nov 5, 2021Greetings Senator Nation!

Please remember be on the lookout for our COVID weekly data update. If you have provided your child’s school with an updated phone number, you will receive a text at 6PM to check our weekly COVID update on the designated area on our website.  It’s my honor to share the weekly update for the Week of November 5.

Today is American National Football Day. This day celebrates the United States’ most popular sport. With this in mind, I encourage all of us to support our very own Dover High School Senators as they defend our Senator Pride tonight against Salesianum Sallies.

During this week’s school visits, I had to opportunity to spend time talking with students and staff members.  On Monday, we visited Towne Point Elementary School and Kent County Community Schools. I would like to give a shout out to Principal Giddens for his work with the Leader in Me program. In the hallways, I learned that L.E.A.D represents Love, Excel, Achieve and Discipline.  While at Kent County Community Schools, we visited the Aquatic’s Center and learned more about our Therapeutic Pool Services. This is one of Capital’s best attributes as we serve students therapeutic needs from our entire county!

On Wednesday, I had the pleasure of visiting Dover High School, Booker T. Washington Elementary School and William Henry Middle School. The highlight of my visit at Dover HS was Wednesday night’s Transition Night for 8th graders who are our future freshmen.  I want to be the first to welcome them to the Taj Mahal high school in the first state, as they will be transitioning next year to Dover High School. During the presentation, students learned about the programs, course offerings and graduation requirements of Dover High School.  Each week during my visits with our students, teachers and staff, I am delighted to continue to build on our Senator Pride as I continue to implement my 180-day entry plan.

In addition, to my school visits this week, I also attended the Greater Kent County Committee Meeting and the special informational meeting to promote the Driver's Education Initiative. At the Greater Kent County Meeting, I had the honor of learning more about how legislative Members of the Capital Improvement Committee and Economic Development, Banking, Insurance and Commerce Committee are working to ensure that Kent County has its fair share of opportunities to energize workforce development and advance small business.  While attending the special informational meeting to promote the Driver's Education Initiative, I learned about how U.S. Attorney David C. Weiss is leading the charge to prepare high school drivers through school-based driver’s education for police stops. The main goal of the program is to prepare young drivers to respond properly to all traffic stops to ensure students and officer are safer.

I ask for your consideration as we continue on our journey to “spur the audacity of hope to uncover the magic of new beginnings.”

Sincerely,

Dr. Vilicia Cade
