Superintendent Update Oct 8th, 2021
Superintendent Update Oct 8th, 2021Greetings Senator Nation!

Please remember to sign up for school messenger by providing us with a current phone number and email so that you may receive our 4 pm weekly COVID update.  This week we had 17 cases over 7 schools.

This week I had honor of visiting with students in several schools.  In speaking with students and staff about what they are learning, I continue to learn what it means to be a part of the Senator family. I also met with my newly created CEO’s Presidents Council.  This is a new structure which allows me to meet monthly with the Presidents of the various collective bargaining associations. It is my vision to enact opportunities that reflect the cornerstone of our core values. Leadership through inclusiveness is something that the Capital Board of Education and I value and hold in high esteem.  Meeting with the leaders of the various unions allows for a proactive two-way conversation to understand the various needs of all of our staff.  Today was also a day filled with learning for our teachers and staff through our statewide professional learning day.

Police Chief Johnson and I held an important meeting this week with key leaders and stake holders.  Schools around our nation are beginning to see the residual effects of COVID school closures and how the breakdown in school connectedness, along with trauma, is affecting our more vulnerable students.  I want our community stakeholders to know that we are taking a proactive stance. My team and I have convened several meetings to identify the gaps in our continuum of services.  I want to give a shout out to Dr. Voshell and the Dover High School staff and encourage them.  Again, I will continue to enact resources that safeguard the safety and well-being of all members of Senator Nation! Together will continue to spur the audacity of hope to uncover the magic of new beginnings.

Lastly, please join us for our Homecoming festivities next Friday, October 15th.  The parade will begin at 5PM.   I hope to see you in your blue and white. You will not want to miss this important opportunity to celebrate the rich legacy of what makes Senator Nation special.

Thank you and stay healthy!,
