Enrollment and Registration

Use the Delaware School Locator to find your resident school, based on your address. If you are participating in School Choice, you are required to register with your resident school first before applying for choice.

To help ensure a smooth and timely registration process, families should bring the following documents at the time of registration:

• Birth certificate
• Parent/guardian photo ID
• Proof of residency, such as a utility bill in the parent/guardian’s name or a legal agreement with a landlord
• Immunization records
• Current physical
• TB screening
• Proof of parenthood or guardianship, which may include custody or primary placement documents

If your student is transferring to Capital School District from another school district, please also provide:

• Withdrawal papers from the previous school
• Transcript, grades, or report card from the previous school
• IEP or 504 documentation, if applicable

Missing documents will not prevent registration or placement for students who are eligible for services under the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act.

*Your child must be at least 5 years old on or before August 31 of any school year to attend kindergarten, and at least 4 years old on or before August 31 of any school year to attend PreK.

Please Note: Pre-K registrations are by invitation only. Please contact the Early Childhood Office for questions on eligibility and availability.
