School Climate/Discipline
School climate is a broad, multifaceted concept that involves many aspects of the student’s educational experience. A positive school climate is the product of a school’s attention to fostering safety; promoting a supportive academic, disciplinary, and physical environment; and encouraging and maintaining respectful, trusting, and caring relationships throughout the school community no matter the setting—from Pre-K/Elementary School to higher education.
Getting Involved
When families are involved in a child’s education, students are more likely to do well in school, demonstrate positive behavior, build stronger attitudes toward learning, and experience long-term success.
Ways to Get Involved
Families and community members can support Capital School District students in many ways, including:
- Attend Back-to-School Nights to learn more about the school year and receive helpful information
- Participate in school events, such as:
- Parent-teacher meetings
- Student exhibitions
- Concerts
- Athletic events
- Parent-teacher organization meetings
- Volunteer at a school
- Become a mentor to a student
- Serve on a school or district committee and share your voice
- Chaperone field trips, dances, or other school events
Other Ways to Support Students
Even if you are unable to volunteer during the school day, there are still many ways to stay involved and support student success.
