Parent Council
Parent Council for Parents of Students with Disabilities
In accordance with Delaware Code Title 14, § 3125, Capital School District supports the facilitation of a parent council for parents and guardians of students with disabilities.
The council was formed in January 2016 and meets on a regular basis, as determined by the council. The purpose of the parent council is to advocate generally for students with disabilities and provide person-to-person support for individual parents, guardians, and children as needed.

Delaware Code: § 3125 Parent Councils
Each school district and charter school enrolling any child with disabilities shall, on an annual basis, contact the parents of each such child to attempt to facilitate the creation and maintenance of a parent council for the parents of students with disabilities.
Parent councils will advocate generally for students with disabilities and provide person-to-person support for individual parents and children. Charter schools and school districts shall collaborate and coordinate with existing parent groups and other information and support groups to facilitate the creation, maintenance, and effectiveness of the parent councils.
