Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
What is an IEP?
The Individualized Education Program (IEP), is a document that is developed for each public school child who is eligible for specialized instruction/special services. The IEP is developed through a team effort and reviewed at least once a year in alignment with federal law. Before being determined eligible for an IEP, federal law requires a multidisciplinary team must determine that the child has a disability and requires specialized instruction and/or related services to benefit from the general education program.
The Capital School District seeks to partner with families to help develop appropriate Individualized Education Programs for each student. In order to help families navigate the process of special education families are encouraged to reach out to their child’s school or the Special Services Office to assist with any questions or concerns (302) 857-4239.
