Special Services
In alignment with the District’s mission of “Advancing Educational Excellence through Innovation,” the Special Services Department works to meet the needs of students with identified disabilities and help prepare them for post-secondary education, vocational opportunities, and independent living.
The Special Services Department works collaboratively with school staff, students, families, and community members to ensure students with disabilities have the supports they need to be successful in school. The department serves as a resource for school teams and provides professional development and technical assistance related to 504 plans and Individualized Education Programs, known as IEPs.
Special Services staff assist schools with the development of flexible programming, supports, and services that help students with disabilities access meaningful curriculum, opportunities, and active engagement in learning.
For questions or additional information, please contact the Special Services Department at 302-857-4239.
