Construction Progress as of May 5, 2021 

Foundation work has started as well as other necessary ground work including excavating piers and geo-thermal well drilling.

Preparing the Land for the Foundation of the Two New Interconnected Middle Schools

Richard Y. Johnson & Son, Inc. is the construction management company for the two new interconnected middle schools on Pat Lynn Drive.  

The photos below show the progress on site as of April 21, 2021.

Groundbreaking Ceremony

On Monday, March 22, 2021, a Groundbreaking Ceremony was held for the construction of the two new interconnected middle schools on Capital's Pat Lynn Drive property, attended by dignitaries and other members of the community as well as district staff.  Dr. Sylvia M. Henderson, Interim Superintendent of Capital School District, officiated, and Mr. Aduwumni Kuforiji, Interim Superintendent, organized the actual groundbreaking and who would take part.  The photos below give a glimpse into the day which also included a performance by Dover High School's Rolling Thunder drumline and the Central Middle School Choir.

The School board, Dr. Henderson, Miss Shanianne Benson, a student from South Dover Elementary (who will be in the first class to attend the new interconnected middle schools in 2023) and Mr. Kuforiji broke ground during the ceremony.

Early Site Work on the Property at Pat Lynn Drive

The initial site work involved removing trees and the old tennis courts as well as leveling the ground.  New trees will be planted on the property.
