Dr. Dan Shelton is a native of Delaware, born in Wilmington. He earned his Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Public Policy from the University of Delaware. For the last 11 years Dr. Shelton has been a principal in the Christina School District. Prior to that he served as a teacher in the City of Wilmington.  Throughout his career he has been recognized for building positive culture among students, families and staff, building partnerships with the community and closing achievement gaps, in the schools that he has served, while raising the overall student achievement levels. In 2012 Dr. Shelton was named Delaware's National Distinguished Principal. Dr. Shelton has served as President of the Delaware Association of School Principals and the Delaware Association of School Administrators, advocating for schools at the State and Federal levels.  His wife Cara is also a teacher.  They have 3 young children together.   Dr. Shelton looks forward to the opportunity to continue to build on the successes of the Capital School District.
